The Carcinogenic Potency Project

Excel and Tab-separated Formats of the Carcinogenic Potency Database

The Excel format and the tab-separated format of the CPDB include the same information as the plot format that has been published and the screen readable format. The tab-spearated format is intended for reading into statistical databases. Documentation, appendices, and bibliography are provided below. Further details can be found in methods and guide.

The CPDB is a single standardized resource of the results of 50 years of chronic, long-term carcinogenesis bioassays. The experiments vary widely in design, histopathological examination and nomenclature, and in the published authors’ choices of what information to include in their papers. Data in these formats include results of 6540 experiments on 1547 chemicals from the general literature and the Technical Reports of the National Cancer Institute/National Toxicology Program (NCI/NTP). Information is given in the CPDB on strain, sex, route of compound administration, target organ, histopathology, author’s opinion about carcinogenicity, and reference to the published paper, as well as quantitative data on tumor incidence, dose-response, TD50, statistical significance of the dose-response, length of experiment, duration of dosing, and average daily dose-rate.

Supplementary Dataset

A supplementary dataset for the CPDB includes survival and dosing information for results from the general literature.
